MILLVILLE -- The Holly City Family Center will be open on Sundays for the first time ever.
Janet Reeves, director of operations for the East Mulberry Street location, said the fitness room will be open this Sunday from noon to 3 p.m.
"It's the biggest thing the members have asked for," she said of the Sunday openings. "We decided to try it and see how it would work out."
If Sunday hours are successful, Reeves said the Holly City Development Corp., which operates the facility, could expand hours on that day and make the pool available to members, as well.
"People seem to be excited," she said of the upcoming Sunday openings.
The center also is offering a special in January for new members. If two new members join together, the center will waive the $60 joiner fee for each person, Reeves said. Memberships are $420 for an adult and $612 for a family for city residents, she said.
The facility increased its membership by about 35 in December, according to Reeves. The center now has about 1,300 memberships, and Reeves is optimistic that number will grow.
"With all the New Year's resolutions, January is usually a good month," she said.
A new session of 8-week classes also will begin on Sunday, Reeves said. Each membership includes a free class, she added.
